Shicley Cottage, Trefin, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK
General Description
The property has two bedrooms and sleeps up to four on the first floor. The property was originally built in the 1750's but totally rebuilt with the spirit of the original building in 2007. It incorporates modern facilities whilst retaining the original character.
The cottage includes a welcome pack, tea, coffee, wine, welsh cakes and cleaning equipment etc. Bed linen is included but towels are not. Change over day is Saturday.
Features
Upstairs is reached via the spiral staircase where there is a spacious yet snug double bedroom for the grown ups looking out over the old farm courtyard and adjacent is the kids room, with twin beds looking over the unspoiled countryside.
The bathroom has a large corner bath with unlimited hot water. There is no shower in this cottage as the ceiling pitch prevents it, but how lovely is it to soak in a big bubble bath with a glass of wine after a days walking, surfing or just loafing!
Ideal for two adults and two children up to 14 years old.
A very peaceful part of beautiful west wales, less than 5 minutes from the Pembrokeshire coastal path. You can look in any direction and see only the rugged coastline or rolling countryside.
Specification
The property is approximately 500m from the local beach which is quiet, secluded and beautiful. It is stony and some people like to swim there, it is never busy. The nearest long sandy beach is approx 10km away (Whitesands) near to St Davids. This beach is 1km long and here you can swim or surf or just sunbathe. The beach is perfect for surfers and body boarders and hosts the annual national surf life saving championships every summer.
The nearest golf course is less than 5km away from the property, however we have a further 3 courses within 10 - 15km distance, one of which is at Whitesands Bay as mentioned above.
St Davids (the smallest city in the UK) is 10km away and full of ancient history, local architecture and of course the beautiful rambling St Davids cathedral.
The property is set in 13 acres of farm land, 2 acres is unfarmed and left purposely for renters to play in. However, you are welcome to explore the 13 acres, to the perimeter when crops are in season or anywhere when not.
Some people wish to holiday with other families, and we are fortunate in having 3 other similar properties on the same site, so you can share your holiday experience, whilst remaining in your own "home from home". Together, the properties can accommodate up to 16 people in multiples of up to 4 per property.
We offer several optional perks for those who are more ambitious. We have a water ski boat which we can make available for water ski or wakeboard lessons, or tows if you are experienced.
We also have a selection of kids motorcycle scramblers, and an adults one for those of you who would like to tear around the farm on two wheels.
Finally, we have a two seat, fully aerobatic, open cockpit biplane which we are happy to take renters in for a view of the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. You may take the controls if you wish, and we can do pleasure flights or aerobatic sessions. All the above are paid for by voluntary donation from the renters, but we are happy to give renters an indication of the normal donation required to cover the cost of the facilities. You will probably be surprised at how cheap these exciting experiences are!! If you are interested in the aeroplane, please let us know when you book so that we can ensure tha aeroplane is available.
